COVID-19 Update: It has been a difficult time for most of us with this abrupt change to our daily lives, disruptions that we had never imagined, however we are starting to see the light from the end of the tunnel. Pennsylvanians were ordered to stay at home in many counties beginning in late March, followed by the entire state as of April 1st. Our shop, like many other small businesses, was forced to temporarily shutter its doors because of it. This meant that our classes were unable to take place. While we still do not have an exact time-line as to when all of our lives might return to a semblance of normalcy, the outlook is beginning to look brighter and we hope to be getting good news from the Governor in the next few days! As of now, we are most likely looking towards very late May or early June until we’re allowed to resume our classes, although we definitely pray it will be sooner! In light of this, we have canceled most personal plans to accommodate the rescheduling that will need to be done and added more dates through October on our event calendar. Re-scheduling aside, we have added more dates to our existing classes to hopefully encourage new bookings from those who are able. To be upfront, this has been a more than difficult time for our small shop, it has emotionally and financially drained us but we’re going to keep hanging on and we will overcome! Optimism is difficult to find for many but we’re abundant in it here! We look forward to getting beyond this event that has impacted so many and we are especially looking forward to passing our many years of knowledge and skills on to future students for many more years into the future! Thank you all for your support and understanding, stay safe and God bless! We will be around most Thursdays and Fridays returning calls as we can, unfortunately our emails have been flooded as of late with more at least a thousand new junk-mails/spam every day and it’s become virtually impossible to deal with! For rescheduling or other class inquiries, please call us at 717-469-5802 and leave a message.
Updated April 2020! This is a 1 day class open to only three students per class, with openings available on Saturdays as scheduling permits. Students will forge a tomahawk from a solid bar of steel, shape the handle, learn the heat treating proceduces and forging techniques including grinding and filing. While there is no set age requirements, we recommend the class for ages 16 and over (email us regarding younger students, we just want to make sure it's worth our time and your money) and is limited to 2 students per class and scheduling is done on a first come, first serve basis. All materials, including steel, abrassives and fuels needed to complete the projects will be provided along with needed safety gear. We will be using a combination of coal and gas forges during classes. Belt grinders, air tools, abrasive saws and other power equipment may also be used by students. All classes are held in our 0indoor facility, rain, snow or shine. Attendees must wear closed toe shoes, preferably work boots and are encouraged to bring their own tools such as hammers or tongs if they have them but this is not required. Classes are held at 2529 Roundtop Road, Middletown PA 17057.
We do not offer refunds for classes due to the advanced scheduling, limited spots available and lead time required to order materials and consumables for each student; however, we run classes year round and will gladly work with you to find a different class to better suit your schedule.
